Staying safe while looking for work
Almost every job on Zezado is real. A few aren't. Fake employers want your money, your identity or your bank details, and they usually ask for them in the same few ways.
Signs of a fake job
- They ask you to pay: for training, equipment, a visa, a background check or a “registration fee”. Real employers don't charge you to work.
- They want to move the chat to WhatsApp, Telegram or another app straight away, where we can't see it or help you.
- They ask for a passport, ID, bank account or card number before you've had an interview or a written offer.
- The pay is far above other jobs like it, or you're offered the job without any interview.
- They rush you: “reply in an hour or lose the place”.
- They send you money or a cheque and ask you to send part of it back or on to someone else.
What Zezado does
- We check companies by hand. Verified ones show a tick.
- When a message asks for money, a move to another app or your documents, we show a warning under it.
- A job that three people report is taken out of search until we've looked at it.
- Zezado will never ask for your password, bank details or a payment in a message.
If something feels wrong
- Stop replying. You don't owe them an explanation.
- Report the job from its page, or block the person from their profile.
- Write to us with the topic “Safety”, and tell us what they asked for.
- If you've already sent money or bank details, call your bank now, then report it to the police.
